Immovable Institutions: why laws and top down enforcement doesn't change minds

  • Why do institutions seem to be out-of-sync with current needs?

  • And why is it that no matter what we do the process is always far more complicated and slow than it should be?

On the surface human behavior looks extraordinarily complex, with unique expressions for each individual, family, group, population, culture now and through time.

But behind it all, at the very lowest level, there is a little known biologically natural system responsible.

We barely notice it, in fact we have mainly overlooked it. It is after all responsible for how we do what we do, the things that are just, well normal.

Our research is based on understanding this common system operating at the very core of human behavior. This system describes how humans identify, understand, and use information. It is natural to us. These are the methods and solutions we rely on to survive in the world and interact with each other (see the articles for more in depth description).
